Prague Long Weekend Blueprint

Prague Old Town rooftops at sunset

Buy a 72-hour Prague Integrated Transport pass (310 CZK) at airport kiosks or metro stations; it covers trams, buses, and the airport bus + metro combo. Validate once and keep it handy for random inspections.

Day 1: Old Town + Jewish Quarter

Arrive in Staroměstské náměstí before 9 a.m. to watch the Astronomical Clock without selfie sticks. Explore Týn Church interiors, then walk Pařížská for Art Nouveau facades. Buy the combined Jewish Museum ticket to visit synagogues and the Old Cemetery; shoulders should be covered and photography is restricted in some prayer halls.

Lunch + Coffee

  • Sisters Bistro for open-faced chlebíčky and soup bowls.
  • Můj šálek kávy in Karlín for third-wave espresso, reachable via tram 8.
  • EMA espresso bar near Masarykovo nádraží for a quick pick-me-up.

Spend the afternoon crossing Charles Bridge toward Malá Strana. Stop at Wallenstein Garden for a crowd-free breather, then ride tram 22 uphill to Prague Castle. Reserve St. Vitus Cathedral time slots online—entry security resembles airports, so avoid large bags.

Day 2: Castle District + River Cruise

Tour the Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane, and Lobkowicz Palace audio tour (headphones sanitized between uses). Descend via the castle stairs, detouring to Strahov Monastery for panoramic photos. In the evening, book a small-boat Vltava cruise that departs from Kampa; operators limit capacities to around 12 passengers for intimate commentary.

Beer Houses

  • Lokál Dlouhááá for tank Pilsner Urquell and hearty Czech fare.
  • U Kunštátů craft beer tasting flights set in a medieval cellar.
  • Dva Kohouti for modern lagers brewed in Karlín—pairs well with food trucks outside.

End the night with a tram ride (still covered by your pass) and be mindful of noise near residential courtyards—the city enforces quiet hours after 10 p.m.

Day 3: Kutná Hora Excursion

Take the hourly train from Praha hl.n. (55 minutes) and buy a return ticket for peace of mind. Visit Sedlec Ossuary first (online reservations now required), then head into town for St. Barbara's Cathedral and the Italian Court. Wear respectful clothing and keep flash off inside chapels.

Logistics

  • Many cafes and smaller shops prefer cash; ATMs attached to major banks (Česká spořitelna, ČSOB) have fair rates.
  • Tap water in restaurants isn't automatic—ask for 'kohoutková voda' to avoid bottled charges.
  • Pickpockets frequent tram 9 and Charles Bridge; keep bags zipped in front.
